ITC is proud to participate in the American Chemistry Council Responsible Care® Partnership program. Responsible Care is a voluntary global initiative sponsored by the American Chemistry Council (ACC) that is practiced today by 58 national and regional associations in more than 60 economies around the world, which share a common commitment to advancing the safe and secure management of chemical products and processes. Responsible Care member and partner companies have committed to implement a set of goals and guidelines that go above and beyond federal regulation on health, safety, security, and the environment. Since 1988, ACC’s Responsible Care® initiative has led to the reduction of releases to the environment by more than 71 percent and a safety record that is more than four times safer than the average of the U.S. manufacturing sector.
Responsible Care companies have invested almost $14 billion to further enhance security at their facilities in the past decade. Responsible Care companies are committed to worker safety. They are nearly five times safer than the average of the U.S. manufacturing sector as a whole, and three times as safe as the business of chemistry overall. These companies have also reduced process safety incidents by 53 percent since 1995 and from 1988 to 2013, have reduced hazardous releases to the air, land and water by more than 75 percent.
As an ACC partner, ITC has signed off on the Responsible Care ® Guiding Principles and is certified to RC14001®.

ITC has risk management systems in place to identify and evaluate safety, health, environmental, and security hazards and risks associated with the products we store and handle as well as associated activities. The process includes a review of the Safety Data Sheets, identification of potential health and safety concerns, possible environmental effects, security related issues and compliance to applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Our risk management system makes safety, health, environmental protection, and security an integral part of our product storage and handling management system.
ITC is a Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) regulated facility under 33 CFR Part 105. All persons requiring unescorted access to the secured areas of the facility must possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
